Description:

Microtech’s innovation on the Troodon series continues with the Combat Troodon. The Troodon expands on all beloved features of its younger brothers into a Microtech’s largest production OTF knife. The drop point style blade made from premium steel measures 3.8 inches, living up to its Ancient Greek name of “wounding tooth.”

Its large size gives this knife just the right amount of heft, making it easier and more fun to operate. The Combat Troodon is a statement piece, bringing personality to EDC. Whether you need to defend yourself, break down boxes, or just like having something cool to fidget with, the Combat Troodon has you covered.

Switchblades and OTF knives have been making moms nervous since 1958 when Congress passed the National Switchblade Act. Make sure you consult your local laws before picking up your next knife. Check out our collection of automatic knives that are California legal just to be safe.

If you love the Troodon (how could you not?) but you’re worried this might not be the right size for you, take a look at the Troodon Mini.

  • Do OTF Knives Wear Out?

  • Can I Sharpen My Microtech Knife?
We understand that some customers may prefer to maintain their own knives. Sharpening your knife does not automatically void the warranty. The warranty will remain in effect so long as the blade is not improperly sharpened and the handle is not damaged or stripped due to disassembly, determined at our discretion.

FAQ On OTF Automatic

  • What are the advantages of OTF?
OTF Benefits
Their automatic opening system allows fast deployment, making them ideal for self-defense or other emergencies. OTFs are also quite durable as they are made with high-quality materials and rugged construction, which makes them perfect for heavy outdoor use or daily carry.
  • What is the difference between OTF and Switchblade?
The Best OTF Knife for your Money | Knife Informer
For the uninformed, OTF knives are a type of switchblade – that is, an automatic knife which deploys the blade ‘automatically’ on pressing a button or switch. Specifically, the OTF knife is a switchblade where the blade simply comes ‘out the front’.
  • Does the military use OTF knives?
Made for military and law enforcement personnel, the Pentagon OTF is one of the most dependable knives available. With a double-edged blade made from CPM-S35VN steel, the Pentagon has excellent corrosion resistance and is also easy to sharpen.
  • Are OTFS good for self-defense?
As I mentioned before the Hogue OTF is a fantastic self-defense tool. In a fight, you can quickly deploy the knife in ultra close quarters without having to flick your wrist or rely on a folding mechanism. It’s easy to deploy regardless of the situation, and of course, its ultra fast.
  • Do all OTF knives have a safety?
Many OTF knives have safety mechanisms to prevent the blade from accidentally ejecting. But these usually work very differently for SA and DA out the front knives. Single action OTFs with safeties usually have an external safety switch.
FAQ Fixed Blades
  • What are fixed blade knives good for?
A: Fixed blades typically have more strength and durability than folding knives, making them a better choice for heavy-duty tasks such as hunting, camping and self-defense. They are also easier to sharpen than folding knives, making them well-suited for fine precision tasks.
  • Is fixed blade the same as full tang?
Fixed Blades:
Fixed-blade knives are one solid piece of metal that can have tang or full-tang construction at the handle end. “Tang” construction has a taper that disappears into the handle (wood or other material). Full-tang construction has a solid metal frame, to which “handle slabs” are attached on either side.
  • Are fixed blades better than pocket knives?
Folding Knife vs. Fixed Blade Knives: Which Knife Is Right ...
Fixed blade knives are durable and are usually stronger than a folding knife. Some fixed blade knives are full tang, which means the blade runs the entire length of the handle. This makes the knife much stronger than a folding knife and means you can cut stiffer materials with more ease.
  • Where is the best place to carry a fixed blade knife?
For a fixed-blade knife, it is very popular to carry the knife in a sheath attached outside the waistband (OWB) on a belt. Fixed-blades are the most versatile for survival, hunting, and other heavy-duty work. You can even open cans. Carrying them outside the waistband gives you the most comfort and also quickest draw time. Microtech socom, socom elite, otf auto, highest quality, microtech ultratech.
